ANDO Tours is owned and operated by the Underground Bed and Breakfast in Coober Pedy.

We have a luxury 4WD vehicle that seats a maximum of 6 people, that way we can give you a highly personalised tour experience that will leave you amazed. We have decades of experience living and mining in Coober Pedy that we are proud to share with you. We do a half day tour of opal mines and the Breakaways, Moon Plain and the Dog Fence. (Drinks Supplied)

Similarly we do a two hour version for those with less time up their sleeve.

You can also experience the Special Six Hour Painted Desert Tour. This includes an Australiana Lunch with drinks supplied.

Customised private tours can be easily arranged and accommodation/tour packages are also able to be arranged.

The ANDO Heritage Run

As we leave Coober Pedy to drive to Oodnadatta we cross the Dingo Fence then Moon Plain passing through undulating country and creek crossings. At Oodnadatta we tour the town visiting the museum of railway, telegraph and station history. We stop to have an "Oodna Burger" at the famous Pink Roadhouse before continuing the journey. After lunch we travel onto Algebuckina railway bridge and water hole near Neales river passing ruins from days gone by. We then go on to visit the historic William Creek pub in Australia's smallest town. After a cup of tea we return to Coober Pedy, having traveled through five cattle stations one being the largest cattle station in the world.

Town Tour

This is an overview of this unique outback Opal mining town. With its history, diverse culture underground homes, underground churches and mining etc.

Town & Breakaway Tour

Starting with the town tour, visitng the famous Crocodile Harry dugout which has been used for various film scenes and has been visited by Tina Turner. Proceeding through to the opal fields and visiting mine sites. We then move on to the beautiful Breakaways to the North of town and after taking in the magnificent scenery we then move down along the dingo fence, the longest fence in the world, then across the Moon plains where a lot of films have been produced.

Painted Desert Tour

Travelling north east of Coober Pedy crossing the dog fence and the moon plain down Lolly Pop lane to Mt. Barry Station. On to Arcoringa homestead for morning tea and coffee break and toilet stop. We then pass through Arcoringa cCreek to the Arcoringa hills and the Painted desert, one of the most scenic places in the world. This country highlights the vivid colours of eroded sandstone in the outback, a photographers dream. You wont be able to resist the leisurely walk through this area with its breathtaking views. An Australiana lunch and drinks is provided before returning to Coober Pedy.

Lake Eyre and Haligan Bay

Pickup 8.30am from your accomodation, travel to William Creek, stop for a coffee break and toilet stop. Then move on to Haligan Bay, the only access point to Lake Eyre on the western side. The track is a very slow going trip, with photo stops, on arrival while having a leisurely walk on the lake an Australiana lunch bbq and drinks is being prepared. Then return back to Coober Pedy.

William Creek (Transfer for Lake Eyre flights)

Pickup from your accommodation for the two hour drive to William Creek for your pre arranged flight over Lake Eyre with Trevor Wright. To book a flight please visit http://www.wrightsair.com.au. After your flight visit the William Creek Pub for lunch if you wish before returning to Coober Pedy.
